Explore Edinburgh with a flexible hop-on hop-off pass
Edinburgh rewards slow wandering as much as quick overviews.
A hop-on hop-off bus lets you stitch together a day of contrasts — Gothic closes, Georgian crescents, castle battlements and green volcanic crowns — while giving you the freedom to hop off, linger, and fall into the city’s stories..

How to join the Edinburgh hop-on hop-off bus
Many visitors begin near Princes Street or the Castle esplanade, but you can join at any official stop along the route. Most stops are a short walk from main bus stations, tram stops, or the Old Town.
By Train
From Edinburgh Waverley station, it’s a short walk to Princes Street and the Castle area where several hop‑on hop‑off departures start. Station staff can usually point you toward the nearest stop if you’re unsure.
By Car
Central parking in Edinburgh is limited and often paid. If you drive, consider parking at a Park & Ride or a city car park close to the tram or main bus routes, then join the hop‑on hop‑off circuit to avoid inner‑city traffic and parking hassles.
By Bus
Local Lothian Buses and regional coaches stop near key hubs such as the city centre, Haymarket and the airport coach stops. From those hubs it’s a short walk to the nearest hop‑on hop‑off boarding point.
On Foot
If you’re staying in the Old Town or New Town, many stops are within easy walking distance: look for red or branded buses, or the prominent starting points near Princes Street and the Castle.
